Procrastination is my biggest weakness. I’ll set out to do one small task and then somehow end up scrolling on my phone for half an hour. By the time I get back to it, I feel guilty and less motivated. What’s frustrating is that it’s rarely big projects I delay — even basic chores or sending a short email gets pushed off. I’ve tried making to-do lists, but sometimes they just overwhelm me more. Curious what simple tricks actually help people get moving without overthinking.

One trick I’ve noticed helps is setting a timer for just a few minutes. Telling yourself, “I’ll do this for five minutes,” removes the pressure, and more often than not you end up finishing the whole task. It’s funny how starting is the hardest part, and once that barrier is gone, things flow a lot easier.
I’ve been there too. What’s worked for me is breaking everything into ridiculously small steps. Instead of “clean the kitchen,” I’ll write “wipe the counter” or “load the dishwasher.” Checking off those tiny things gets me moving, and the momentum builds. I read a Liven app review that mentioned they offer a program called “Get It Done,” which gives short lessons on avoiding procrastination. I think the key is giving yourself credit for progress, even if it’s only five minutes of effort. That way it feels manageable instead of overwhelming.
